The new flagship of Sony, XZ2 & XZ2 Compact is launched in the market with 18:9 screens, round and ergonomic look and better cameras with the improvements in hardware to become big redesign. The handset, Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact has the features of major design change, with the improved camera and bezelless displays.

Design and Display

The mobile phone, Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact has the features of rounded design and the back of the handset is curved for ergonomics and improve the grip on the handset. The handset has the fingerprint sensor, which has been moved to back and it was embedded in power button on the side.

The bigger variant of this handset is provided in the market in Liquid silver, Liquid black, deep green and Ash Pink colors. The compact model of this handset will be provided in the market in white, black, moss green, silver and coral pink. This handset, Xperia XZ2 has glass back with glossy finish and Xperia XZ2 compact has matte polycarbonate plastic back.

These two handsets have the features of 18:9 ‘tall’ display and has the smaller top and bottom bezels with full HDR support. The smart phone, XZ2 is provided in the market with 5.7 inch full HD+ with 2160 x 1080 display and smaller XZ2 Compact has 5 inch 1080p+ screen. The handset has been added with speakers, which are 20% louder than the model of the last year. These handsets have the IP 68 water and dust resistance.

The new dynamic vibration system is added to bigger XZ2 and has the wide frequency vibration motor. It can control the intensity of vibration for movies, notifications and song and they are used for the notification slider. The XZ2 compact does not have Dynamic Vibration. Both the smart phone do not have 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Internals and Storage

The smart phones, XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are powered by the snapdragon 845 processor with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage capacity. The power storage of the handset can be expanded through the hybrid microSD/SIM card slot. The two smart phones run Android 8.0 Oreo with stock of Sony like UI.

Cameras

Both the smart phones have camera sensor, which is also present in XZ1 of previous year and it is provided in the market with some noticeable improvements. It is 19 MP Motion Eye shooter with 5 axis stabilization, predictive hybrid laser, phase detection, contrast AF, LED flash, IR sensor for white balance and dedicated hardware shutter key. Sony is collaborated with Qualcomm for Snapdragon 845 ISP for new generation BIONZ image processing algorithm. It improves the color production, captures with more detail and lower noise in low light.

Battery

The handset, Sony Xperia XZ2 has the features of 3180 mAh battery and the smaller XZ2 compact has the 2870 mAh unit. Both the handsets have the features of fast charging on the basis of Quick Charge 3.0, with bigger XZ2 and it also supports the Qi wireless charging. The Qnovo tech of Sony will be there to enhance battery long time with monitoring of health of mobile phone battery.

The prices of the handsets, XZ2 and XZ2 Compact have not been announced but it is expected that these handsets will be launched in the market during April this year.
