According to budget documents, the Government has exempted imported laptops and desktops from sales tax in the latest finance bill 2016.
According to Government, the proposal for exemption of sales tax was given by Ministry of IT for promotion of Information & Communication Technology (ICTs) in Pakistan.
The government is hoping that they will be able to halt illegal imports and encourage genuine imports through this step.
1st July 2016 is the date when this exemption of sales tax on desktops and laptops will apply.
