Cooking Oils Are Unsafe for Health Punjab Food Authority

It is reported that huge number of companies are producing the sub standard products.  Punjab Food Authority has issued the public notice on 27 November in which they released the complete list of the companies and brands, which are producing different kinds of cooking oils and ghee. The PFA examined the samples of all these oil and ghee brands, which they took during their survey process and they found that most of them are lacked with vitamin A and they were also going to rancid.

The concerned authority found that these cooking products had great amount of acids and artificial flavors, which can damage the human health. The authority concerned has also confirmed that there were total 71 samples, which they test during survey and they were used to manufacture ghee and oil. There are total 42 companies, which were declared unfit for the human consumption. The PFA issued the letter to the concerned companies to give their clear reply on this provoking situation of manufacturing of the substandard food products. It is unfortunate that the leading companies like Shan Cooking Oil and Soya Supreme Cooking Oil are including in the list and it started the new debate on the quality of the food products. The names of the companies are given below with their fool products.

    • Smart Canola Cooking Oil.
    • Ghani Cooking Oil.
    • Shan Taj Cooking Oil.
    • Soya Supreme Cooking Oil.
    • Kashmir Canola Oil.
    • Cukoo Banaspati.
  • High Amount of Acid Values 
    • Sufi Sunflower Cooking Oil.
    • Soya Supreme Banaspati.
    • Olio Premium Canola Oil.
    • Momin Cooking Oil.
    • Mayar Banaspati.
    • Momin Banaspati.
    • Season Banaspati.
    • Sundrop Cooking Oil.
    • Tullo Banaspati.
    • Tullo Cooking Oil.
    • Salovi Spanish Olive Oil.

Atif Ikram is the former chairman of PVMA and he stated that the leading and well known food chains like KFC and McDonalds are also using these cooking products, which are local and majority of the system is using it. He further added that government takes the necessary action against these companies, which are involved in manufacturing of the substandard food products.

The secretary general of Pakistan Banaspati Manufacturers Association said that there are total 120 mills all over the country, which are producing about 10,000 tons of edible oil and ghee and they have stopped their production of the ghee and oil and the raw material is also stopped from Karachi.
