With the approaching of Eid-ul-Azha, in twin cities of Islamabad/Rawalpindi a new trend of cost-sharing sacrificial animals have been gaining momentum.
While talking to APP, citizens said that many joint families have decided to ‘cost-share’ sacrificial cows as the rising prices of sacrificial animals have made it hard for them to sacrifice animals on their own.
A resident Salman Ali said that we can afford to sacrifice a cow instead of a goat that we ‘ld be able to sacrifice individually if possible, as the prices of animals are much higher as compared to last year.
Of cost-sharing sacrificial animals, several religious groups and NGOs have also announced packages before Eid-ul-Azha. They claimed that their purpose is to assist people to sacrifice who could not do it individually.
But the locals are reluctant to participate in these cost-sharing schemes of religious groups and NGOs, saying that most of them ridicule people as their sacrificing animal is of low quality and the rates are cheaper than they charge.
