Facebook Introduces Vanish Mode For Messenger and Instagram

Various messaging platforms are already using disappearing mode for many years. The messengers like WhatsApp and Telegram allow their users to time their messages before they self-destruct. The disappearing messages feature was introduced by popular messaging app Snapchat.

Facebook is also going with the same feature with its popular messaging apps Messenger and Instagram. The Messenger and Instagram now allows their users to opt for vanish mode while talking to someone. However, this is not similar like Snapchat, where messages disappear after a set period of time. Instead, only the messages sent with vanish mode activated will disappear when the chat is closed.

According to Facebook:

We designed vanish mode with safety and choice in mind, so you control your experience. Only people you’re connected to can use vanish mode with you in a chat. Vanish mode is also opt-in, so you choose whether to enter vanish mode with someone. If someone takes a screenshot of your chat while you’re using vanish mode, you’ll be notified”

Although Vanish Mode looks different on disappearing or self-destructing messages, it is exactly the same. The concept still revolves around the idea that Snapchat came up with in 2011.

In recent months, Facebook has improved the way its messengers work, including WhatsApp. Therefore, more features may appear later
