Fault in Submarine Cable Decreases Internet Speed in Pakistan

Due to a submarine cable fault in IMEWE (India-Middle East-Western Europe) cable system, the internet remained sluggish which negatively affected the browsing and download speeds of most of the internet customers in Pakistan. According to initial reports, the cause of this degraded internet speeds is a fault in IMEWE cable system near Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

In fully functional state, IMEWE cable has the capacity to transport 3.84Tbps of bandwidth. Main consumer of IMEWE cable in Pakistan is PTCL and this incident impacted especially on those depending on PTCL.
