The latest venture of ZTE Quartz is smart watch, which is introduced in the market now. This is the first smart watch with the features of Android Wear 2.0 with the provision of native 3G support. The users will stay connected to the network without using of smart phone.
ZTE Quartz Design
The smart watch has the minimalist look and it is also compared with Samsung Gear S3 and the difference is appeared when Gear S3 is featured with rotating bezel and the two buttons on the side. ZTE Quartz uses the single button, which is placed at the right side of the watch and this button is used for launch of Google Assistant and it can be brought up the app drawer for Android Wear 2.0 among various other things.
The smart watch has the stainless steel on front and sides and back is prepared with plastic. On the size of the smart watch, there is potential drawback. It has 1.8 inch diameter and the watch will not be good option for users, who have smaller wrists. The users will get ZTE Quartz with black and blue strap and they can change the straps as the Quartz uses the standard 22 mm straps. The smart watch is added with IP 67 water and dust resistance and it can survive for 30 minutes, when it is dropped in water having depth of about 1 meter.
Display and Internals
When you look at the display of smart watch, the users will get 1.4 inch circular AMOLED screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and 400 x 400 resolution. The chip of the smart watch is featured with 1.1 GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor with 768 MB RAM and 4 GB internal storage capacity. It is also added with speaker and mic to take the calls.
The raw specifications are not looked enough to provide the smooth user experience with Quartz. With the provision of single button, Quartz has much functionality as regular smart watch. It can also be brought the Google Assistant with button to work with voice commands. It has the native 3G support, which means the users do not need to have their smart phone to take the calls or use data. ZTE Quartz is added with accelerometer, GPS, gyro, Bluetooth 4.1 and barometer.
Battery
The smart watch is added with battery, which is 500 mAh and it is compared with Samsung Gear S3 380 mAh and LG Sport Watch 430 mAh. ZTE made the claim for Quartz that battery of smart watch lasts for 36 hours on single charge and it is better than two mentioned earlier. The battery of the smart watch is removable and the users can charge it by placing it on the back of watch on the magnetic charging dock.
Pricing and Availability
The cost of ZTE Quartz is about $192 in US and is particularly very lower than the Gear S3 Classic / Frontier of Samsung ($325, $346) and LG Watch Sport ($350). The lower price of the smart watch did not provide without sacrifice on part of ZTE as Quartz does not have the sensor of heart rate. The users will not find the Quartz outside America for a while and it is exclusive to the T-Mobile only.
