According to budget documents, the auction of 3G/ 4G will benefit the government with Rs. 75 billion as a non-tax revenue for 2016-17.

It should be remembered that the spectrum auction hasn’t been materialized by the government for its requirement of 2015-16. For 2015-16, the estimate of spectrum auction was Rs. 65 billion that was later revised by Rs. 45 billion.

PTA is planning to auction spectrum this month but so far the Next generation Mobile Services (NGMS) Spectrum auction hasn’t been completed by the authority.

According to the decision by government, the base price will be $395 million for single frequency Spectrum auction in the 850 MHz band.

As compared to 45 billion last year, the government is hoping to get Rs. 75 billion for next financial year 2016-17 with the auction in 850 MHz band.

The auction is planned later this month and only Telenor is interested in the participation of this auction.

Top officials of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) told that they were not contacted on that matter due to which they are unable to give their view about the next year’s revenue.
