LG had a phablet, the LG Optimus Vu and two generations of it, before the Optimus G Pro. Now, with the name of LG Vu 3, the company has put out its third iteration.

It also has 4:3 screens, like other Vu family mobile. Similar to the Optimus G Pro, LG Vu 3 goes for a more rounded look and drops the squarish looks of the first two iterations.

Of 1280 x 960 resolutions, it’s got a 5.2” IPS LCD screen, with 307ppi pixel density. For documents and web pages, this aspect is better for reading text. Like previous Vu’s, there’s no additional digitizer for it and works with a stylus with a rubber tip.

LG Vu 3 uses a powerful Snapdragon 800 with four Krait 400 CPU cores and Adreno 330 GPU – the same chipset as the G2, despite the lower screen resolution.

LG Vu 3 still borrows few things from its G2 counterpart like KnockOn, LTE-Advanced (150Mbps), Qlink and Guest mode. It has a 13MP camera, though of optical image stabilization, the press release makes no mention.

It also works with QuickView covers, but there’s no window unlike the covers for the LG G2. The whole cover is translucent and the screen contents shine through, instead.

In Q4, the squarish phablet will be released, but there are no details for its availability.
