The successful auction of 3G and 4G spectrum has been happened few days ago and now in the country, every mobile phone user is waiting for the launch of 3G services commercially.

A week or two at most may be taken for the commercial launch of 3G services in Pakistan despite the winning of spectrum, as revealed by reliable information.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the License Award ceremony will be held by them after they’ll receive remaining license fee from the operators.

Chairman PTA Dr. Ismail Shah said in an interview that 85% license fees will be settled about in a week while PTA already has 15% of the earnest money.

He further stated that the date for license award ceremony will be set by PTA after settlement of all the payments, through consensus.

It was also confirmed by Chairman PTA that at the very same day when mobile phone companies will get license and NOC from PTA, they can start the 3G services.

Operators will have to clear their dues before license award ceremony and due to this the date of this ceremony hasn’t finalized yet. There are maximum 30 days for the payment of remaining license fee for the mobile phone companies.

A related news is that the mobile phone users with their currently working SIMs can avail 3G services and they don’t have to buy new SIMs to use 3G services. But there is a thing necessary and that is a compatible handset.

Along with that, these 3G services will be offered on trial basis from mobile phone companies in order to hard test not only their capabilities but also network.
