The mobile phone dealers gave the threat to go on the shutter down strike if the federal government did not issue the SRO for registration of used mobile phones in Pakistan. they said that 95% of the smartphone are second hand, which are being used in Pakistan. Karachi Electronics Dealers Association (KEDA) demanded in the media conference at his office. They managed a meeting with the Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar, it was decided that government will accord the approval to import of the used mobiles. FBR announced that the old mobile phones will be registered till 31 December 2018 but the government did not issue SRO to regulate the used phones. There are mobile phones having the value of millions of rupees, which are stuck and it can create the problem for import of used mobile phones. He presented the following demands:

1.         The government should consider extending of deadline for legalization of used mobile phones.

2.         The government should allow GSMA approved the handsets to work normally and it does not require typing the approval from PTA.

3.         The implementation of DIRBS is stopped till the approval of new law.

He further added that the government is not fulfilling the demands of the traders and they will go on the shutter down strike in Karachi and all over Pakistan. There are about 95% of the mobiles, which are used as the second hand mobile phone. If the government bans these mobile phones, then the common people will deprive of the basic necessity.
