Due to Defense Day celebrations, the mobile phone services in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad remained close on two consecutive days, September 5 and 6. These services remained close from 4 pm to 11 pm both days. The reason for closure of these services was the order from interior ministry.

These services were suspended in the areas of 10 km from GHQ which include almost whole of Rawalpindi and eastern and southern areas of Islamabad. Apart from mobile phone service, all wireless services also remained close during that period.
