The Wall Street Journal confirms that this month, Nokia will release its first Adroid smartphone. During MWC in Barcelona, the low-cost handset known as Nokia Normandy will reportedly be showcased.
Nokia was working hard on the device while Microsoft was performing due diligence before its acquisition of the Finnish company, according to WSJ’s sources. Allegedly, the smartphone will officially go as ‘Nokia X’.
The smartphone id unsurprisingly tipped to launch without the support of Google Play, much like to kindle products of Amazon. Instead on services provided by Microsoft and Nokia, it will be focused. To Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8, the UI of the upcoming smartphone is also said to be closely related, which is in line with recent leaks.
The Nokia X rumored specs include 512MB RAM, 4GB built-in-memory, 4” WVGA display, dual-SIM and dual-core Snapdragon 200 SoC. Reportedly, the handset will be priced in line with the devices of Nokia Asha.
We’re quite curios to find out how the sales of Nokia’s popular low-end Windows Phone devices like Lumia 520 and 525 will be affected by the launch of device. In Particular, Nokia Lumia 520 is responsible for 30% sales of all Windows Phone.
