Microsoft launched the Lumia 638 in China around six months ago and now they have launched the device in India. INR 8299 ($130) is its price while the newly-launched MS store on Amazon India is the only place where it is available for purchase. Its pre-booking is ongoing while 18th December 2014 is the date for start of its shipping.

Raghuvesh Sarup, the Director Marketing of Nokia India, said during the launch of the device that the device will also succeed like other Lumia devices as it is a smartphone which will make it for customers to enjoy undisrupted video content at an affordable price.
The device sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC and a 4.5” LCD ClearBlack display with protection of Gorilla Glass 3 while it runs on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Cyan. 1830 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage expandable up to 128GB with microSD card are its other main features.

A 5MP autofocus camera is present at the back of smartphone but it is without a front-facing camera. For bands 3, 7, 38, 39, 40 and 41, it comes with CAT 4 LTE/4G support.
A Washington-based company Redmond has also given an exclusive offer for Nokia Lumia 638 on Airtel 4G. for 2 months after activation of Airtel connection on their device, the postpaid customers of the carrier in Bengaluru will get free 4G data for up to 5GB. 31st March 2015 is the last date to achieve this offer.
