Opera’s newest desktop browser includes a free built-in Virtual Private Network (VPN), a common tool for getting round online censorship as a company with association with China is there while internets are censored in China.

The consortium has offered $1.28 billion for the bid while a Chinese security company Qihoo 360 Technology Co Ltd and web search firm Beijing Kunlun Tech Co.

No comment was given by either Kunlun and Qihoo 360 or Opera when they were asked about the future of bid due to the presence of this VPN tool in Opera browser.

Opera told on Thursday at its blog that a free built-in Virtual Private Network (VPN) with unlimited data usage is available in the newest version of its desktop internet browser while VPN is used to get rid of censorship.

Company’s senior vice president said at the blog that it is right of everyone to remain private online. Now every Opera use can get access to any online content everywhere.

Opera CEO Lars Boilesen told in February that shareholders of Opera decided to sell the software to Chinese group and he was not behind this decision.

It is necessary for internet companies of China to censor any content prohibited by the Communist Party of China due to which anything on internet against the official policy of govt. is censored.

China’s internet censorship is known as ‘Great Firewall’ and considered as most sophisticated one due to frequent upgrades in its internet censorship mechanism. Due to this reason, most VPNs don’t work in China but it is not known how the latest VPN will perform in China.

Now 24thMay is the last and extended date offered by the Chinese consortium to Opera last week. The deal will only be complete after it is accepted by the authorities of USA and China.
