Pakistan Reduce Taxes on IT Imports

There are total 54 members of World Trade Organization (WTO) and they have signed the Information Technology Agreement (ITA). Pakistan is also included in the members of WTO and now it has joined the pack.

Now Pakistan becomes the part of the signatory to ITA and the local manufacturer companies started to get the benefit from this agreement and they started complying with the agreement and they abolish or reduce the taxes and duties on the import of the IT related products from other countries of the world. The agreement will impact the local manufacturing industry of the country to the great extent.

The Engineering Development Board (EDB) started the task to prepare the study so that they can help the government to understand the agreement in better way and also advise them that government of Pakistan should sign the agreement or not.

The Engineering Development Board uploaded on its website that it supports the ITA and proposed to the government that it should sign the agreement in the larger interest of the country.

The sign on ITA agreement can trigger a change in IT sector of Pakistan and it will make attractive to import IT equipment in the bulk quantity in which PCs and peripherals, smart phone and tablets are included. The technology is promoted at the cheaper price in the country and increase the usage of this equipment as it is one of sole objective of ITA.
