Pakistan to Ban Blackberry Enterprise Services

PTA, on direction of concerned bodies, has requested from cellular operators to ban Blackberry Enterprises services to its enterprise users. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority mentioned that directions brought up from LEAs and that is upon on security reasons.

To the cellular operators a letter has been sent by the authority, the letter mentions that BES users have to be given 90 days of notification earlier then banning the services completely.

The Directive requested from the mobile companies to make sure that there is no BES connection active following the 30th of November 2015.

The spokesman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority confirmed ust the move and mentioned that just BES is going to be banned whereas BIS services are going to be remained functioning as they are.

Blackberry devices, along with just voice and SMS functions, as well going to be remained working.

Those who do not know, Blackberry services are primarily of below 2 types:

BIS
