PC gaming industry earned about $36 billion in 2016 and it was the great trend before the introduction of the gaming consoles like Xbox One and PS 4. The use of the PCs for the gaming was not stopped even in 2016.
The Superdata research report shows that the gaming industry was earning about $91 billion across the world this year and with the coming of the games like Pokemon Go took the world by storm and it helped in raising the net worth of the market.
It is also found in the report that the PC gaming market earned huge amount of $36 billion during the year and it is free to play online titles and these games can be downloaded from their sites. When we compete the earning of the console of $6.6 billion during the year for their premium gaming, the PC is managing the impressive $5.4 billion and Overwatch has made the big impression to earn $586 million and there are various other games like Fallout 4, CS:GO, Minecraft and Guild Wars 2, which are following in the earnings.
The report shows that the real earning is received through the free to play games and it is followed by the list of top games with the money, they earned during this process:
- League of Legends – $1.7 billion
- Dungeon Fighter Challenge – $1.1 billion
- Crossfire – $1.1 billion
- World of Tanks – $0.40 billion
- Dota 2 – $0.26 billion
The report also shows that the after its introduction over seven years, the League of Legends is remained on the top of the earning Riot $150 million per month. The game, Dota 2 is arrived at the second at $23.4 million per month this year and it showed the hesitation of the fans to switch to other MOBA.
There is slight success of the games like Horses of the Storm, Paragon, Heroes of Newerth and Smite, which is dwarfed by top two and has the persistent trend over last 7 years.
The PC valuation is given to the games on the basis of free to play, social, subscription and premium games. They can get some estimation about the companies like Riot and Valve and their earning record is not publicized.
