PEMRA 12 companies for DTH License Bidding

After rejecting any pressure from cable operators, now Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has decided to organize the process of an open bidding for Direct to Home (DTH) license auction on 23rd November 2016.

The cable operators were holding press conferences in major cities of Pakistan for past few days in which they were demanding the cancellation of this bidding process and postponement of DTH  licenses for three years.

On Monday, the 121st meeting of PEMRA was held during which 21 out of 16 total companies were shortlisted for appearing in the DTH license bidding. Here below, you can view names of the 12 companies that were shortlisted for the bidding process.

  1. M/s. Orient Electronics (Pvt.) Ltd., Lahore
  2. M/s. Mag Entertainment (Pvt.) Ltd., Lahore.
  3. M/s. Skyflix (Pvt.) Ltd., Islamabad.
  4. M/s. Startimes Communications (Pvt.) Ltd., Islamabad.
  5. M/s. Sardar Builders (Pvt.) Ltd., Islamabad.
  6. M/s. Smart Sky (Pvt.) Ltd., Islamabad.
  7. M/s. Parus Media & Broadcast (Pvt.) Ltd., Islamabad.
  8. M/s. Naya Tel (Pvt.) Ltd., Islamabad.
  9. M/s. Mastro Media Distribution (Pvt.) Ltd. Islamabad.
  10. M/s. Shahzad Sky (Pvt.) Ltd. Islamabad (formerly M/s Shahzad CGG (Pvt.) Ltd. Islamabad).
  11. M/s. HB DTH (Pvt.) Ltd. Islamabad.
  12. M/s IQ Communication (Pvt.) Ltd. Karachi.

Four companies that could not qualify for the process are mentioned here below:

  1. Vision Broadcast
  2. Link Dot Net Pakistan,
  3. World Call Telecom
  4. Sharif Feed Mills (Pvt.) Limited

PEMRA has decided to auction three DTH licenses in the country in case enough capable operators will be available for the bidding process.

The bidding process will be held on November 23 for which the abovementioned 12 companies are invited. The bidding process will only be completed after approval of authority, payment of fee and taxes by companies and their fulfilling of all the legal requirements.
