PTA Mobile Phone Verification deadline extended to 15 Jan

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has extended the last date for the registration of the mobile phones under the Device Identification Registration Blocking System (DIRBS) as the federal government has issued the directives to PTA. This DIRBS system is activated on the cellular mobile networks in Pakistan by 15 January 2019. PTA Mobile Phone Verification deadline extended to 15 Jan.

The non compliant devices in operation before this date will be tied to such numbers and these smart phones will remain operational till useful life of the smart phones. PTA has developed and established the Device Identification Registration & Blocking System in line with Telecom policy 2015, which is issued by Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom section 9.6 so that they can counterfeit the use of mobile phone, discourage of theft of the mobile phones and also protect the consumer interest.

Previously, PTA set the deadline for the registration of the mobile phones with the use of this system on 1st December. Then the authority started blocking of the unauthorized and unverified mobile phones and now PTA has delayed the registration of the mobile phones till 15 January 2019.

The mobile phone users in Pakistan, who want to know the status of their mobile phones, they should send each 15 digit IMEI number through SMS to 8484. They can also use the website of PTA to know the status of the mobile phones or the users can download the DIRBS android mobile application.
