Last year, Samsung started a new era with release of Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. After severe disappointment about its use of cheap plastic in S series, it was the first time that the company used best materials in its flagship devices. Due to this change, Samsung also became known as a company which is capable of making the best phones. But there were few shortcomings in the S6 phones including the lack of waterproofing, absence of expandable storage, poor battery life and others.

Now the next big flagship by the company is Samsung S7 and S7 Edge that will be launched this year. Now the company has learned from its mistakes of S6 and it has make improvements on both software and hardware while kept the same design of S6. The best thing is that the missing features of S6 are included in S7.

There is 4 GB RAM in Samsung S7 while its CPU is Exynos for the international users and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 for customers in the USA.

Now Samsung has made it more comfortable for the customers to use S7 as now it has the latest fingerprint scanner after getting rid of the previous bad camera and the new one resembles the iPhone 6. You will get 5.1” quad HD Super AMOLED display with S7.

But the design of S7 Edge is the latest one. It has few changes from its predecessor despite being having quad HD Super AMOLED with curved display on the sides. It has a slight curvy design and a bit smaller than the other 5.5” phones. Even with a large screen, most people can use this phone with one hand.

The much needed feature of microSD card support is back while there is IP68 water and dust resistance in the S7 due to which you can put the device in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. Waterproofing is done by sealed ports. In order to get match with the Gear VR headset, the company introduces the USB Type C trend with S7 series.

Battery Life

There are no removable batteries in the S7 while this feature was available in the phones of last year. Now the company has increased the battery size of S& in order to address the battery life concerns of its predecessor. Now the S7 has 3000 mAh battery instead of previous 2550 mAh battery while S7 Edge has 3600 mAh battery instead of 2600 mAh previously.

S6 debuted the features of wireless charging and adaptive fast-charging which are also present in the latest S7 model.

Camera

There is a huge difference in the camera of this year’s Samsung flagship. As compared to the previous 16 MP camera, the S7 has a new 12 MP camera but the following features make it better than the previous one:

• For low light pictures, it brings 56% more light to capture larger pictures.
• You will get 25% more light in your pictures due to its fighter f/1.7 aperture.
• It lets 95% more light than S6 camera with the use of combined lens and sensor.
• The improved sensor shape uses 16:9 format than the previous 4:3 ratio.
• Its dual-pixel system focuses on pictures three times faster than before.
• Depending on the launch of camera app, it takes pictures quickly.

Always On Display

Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz are present in the Samsung S7 series. Couples of Edge swipe features are also present in the S7 series. An important feature of S7 is known as Always-On Display by Samsung. Through this AOD feature, you will see a clock, calendar or a notification every time on your screen while this features consumes 0.5% battery of phone every hour. As compared to other phones, this function is always present on the display of phone but it is turn off only when the phone is in pocket or bag due to the proximity sensor of the device.
