During a press briefing today, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon confirmed that Sindh govt. has plans to block instant messaging apps including Skype, Viber, WhatsApp, tango and other similar applications for at least three months.
According to the minister, terrorists are switching from conventional communication channel to internet based instant messaging and are using these instant messaging apps for communication.
During the past, VPN, Skype, cellular networks and various other services have remained block in the name of security.
As blockade of any service is implemented by PTA on the orders of MOITT, therefore Sindh Govt. will contact PTA to get the decision implemented, according to minister.
However our sources at PTA said that without the approval from federal government, PTA may not entertain Sindh Govt. request, as PTA is liable to MOTTI.
