Sony has released the new Sony A7R III, which has perfect score of 100 from DxOMark and it dethrones the predecessor and Mark II got the score of 98 over two years ago. The score puts the A7R III into same league as Nikon D850 DSLR, which was released few months before.

Vs Nikon D850

A7R III leads other in Sports category and this camera as higher ISO limit and D850 does better in ideal condition to have lower ISO limit of 32, which can be compared to Sony 100. A7R III is behind D850 in Portrait or color depth or Landscape or dynamic range scores.

The camera is added with 42.4 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor and it is coupled with Bionz X image processor and it is added with mode of 10 fps with continuous autofocus. Mark II shares various specs the new microprocessor in much faster shooting speeds with twice as fast autofocus. It has 5 axis image stabilization system, 4K video recording, dual card slots and 399 point autofocus system. Nikon D850 comes with extra pixels for total of 45.7 MP and it is priced at slightly higher at $3300 vs $3200 for Sony.

4th Overall

The cameras like D850, A7R III and Z7R II are present at the third, fourth and fifth position in their overall hierarchy. The Hasselblad X1D-50C and Pentax 645Z with medium format sensors are present over three and it is priced three times higher.
