The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar has suspended all kinds of withholding taxes, general sales taxes and service charges on the mobile cards.

The chief justice took the Sou Motu notice and he headed the three member bench in Lahore registry of Supreme Court and he ordered the mobile phone companies to suspend all kinds of taxes and service charges on the mobile cards from 13 June 2018 at 12 am. It means that the mobile card of Rs.100 will be provided to the users in full for airtime when a Rs.100 card will be loaded by the users.

The mobile phone operators confirmed that their lawyers have confirmed that the tax and service charges suspension from 13 June 2018 and a detailed order is still awaited to ensure how exactly this suspension will be implemented. It is said that this suspension will take place for the first fifteen days as FBR is asked to submit the detailed response on the next date of hearing.

It was asked from the FBR that a person, who is not falling under the tax net, how he is going to be waived from the mobile phone taxes. It is thought that FBR will submit its response after Eid and it is asked from FBR to come with the proposals on how it can waive the un-taxable individuals from the taxes implied on the phone cards.

It is said that the suspension on the mobile taxes in Pakistan will be started from 13 June and it will remain suspended for minimum 15 days.
