Due to rapid advancement in technology, the world has become the global village and the distances have been reduced. The telecommunication day is being celebrated today all over the world.

The day is celebrated in order to provide awareness among the general public about the importance and benefit of telecom and about other related matters and also appreciates to the people, which created easiness in their lives with the use of computer, internet, telephone and other IT equipments.

The telecommunication was invented on the international level in 1865 and the first global telecommunication day was celebrated in 1969. They introduced this day as the international telecom union and on 17 May 1965, this day was associated the name of telecommunication day by world information society.
