Video Games Improve Memory in Children

Melbourne, Most of the parents consider video game dangerous for the mental growth of their children. But the latest research has proved that video game has increased the intellect and capability among the students to read and they can show good performance in the subjects like Mathematics and Science.

The RMIT University of Melbourne has conducted the research work on the video games and its impact on the mental growth of the children. They have proved that the children, who play video game daily, their decision power and memory is improved and it leaves good impact on their minds and it helps them in the field of education. In this study, the results of the test, ‘Program for International Students Assessment’ are used. This is the international test of the students having age up to 15 years. The information regarding their habits and attitude are gathered and their capability is judged in their study, science and mathematics. These tests are well known with the name of ‘PISA’ test and the results yielded from this test are published after every 3 years.

According to the study, the students having age of 15 years and they play the action video games, the international average of their score remained over 17 point in science and in mathematics, it remained over 15 point. The experts gave the reply and said that in action video games, the children have to make the decision quickly and they also act upon these action video games. They also remember the obstacles, which they face in the previous level of the game as these obstacles are repeated in the next levels. They affect the memory and decision power of the children, which can help them in doing the calculation and keep the lessons by heart.

The students, who play the games based on the online puzzles, they have good potential to solve the problems. In brief, all these aspects, who do not have concern with the education apparently, they become helpful to the students to show performance in the field of education. The experts also warn that this study is not considered supportive to the terrified video games because they have negative impact and they become dangerous for the students. They advised the teachers that they can use such video games in the classroom, which do not have terror and they can get the attention of the players towards their education while playing. In the second part of study, the experts declared the social media and education in foreign languages great obstacles in the education of the children.
