On Thursday, Yahoo admitted that account information of around 500 million of its users was hacked in 2014 by few ‘state-sponsored actors’.

The hackers stole the data that include email addresses, names, hashed passwords, telephone numbers and date of births but it may not include information about bank account, unprotected passwords and payment card data.

The company told that the presence of state-sponsored actor on Yahoo’s network was not confirmed and it is cooperating about this matter with law enforcement agencies.

Now it is important to see the outcome of the deal between Yahoo and Verizon as the former was planning to sell its email and other internet services to the latter.

In July, Verizon said that it will purchase key internet services of Yahoo for $4.83 billion. Now they told that they only know about this issue just couple of days ago. The company said that they will decide about this matter according to their interest but they are unable to comment on the situation at the moment.
