Recently, Apple set the stage for its iPhone launch event just a couple of days ago. Surprisingly, Google swiftly followed suit, announcing its own Pixel event dedicated to its upcoming Google Pixel phones. Interestingly, Google’s event is strategically timed about a month after the iPhone unveiling.
What’s intriguing is that Google’s announcement actually preceded Apple’s timeline, sparking speculation that this strategic move might be aimed at countering Apple’s impact. Regardless, the official unveiling of the highly anticipated Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro is slated for October 4.
In a departure from Apple’s usual campus-based events in Cupertino, California, Google has chosen New York City as the backdrop for its event. Both events are scheduled to kick off at 10 AM in the USA.
Google has made it clear that it intends to “reveal the latest additions” to its lineup of Pixel devices on the said date. This prompts speculation about the potential simultaneous launch of the Pixel Watch 2.
Curiously, and quite possibly intentionally to stir anticipation, Google ‘accidentally’ exposed an image of its upcoming Pixel 8 Pro smartphone on its online store yesterday. You can take a glimpse at the official image provided below.
Google Pixel 8 Pro Leaks:
The Google Pixel 8 Pro has been the subject of numerous leaks lately, fueling widespread speculation. Rumors indicate that it might sport a rear temperature sensor and boast a generous 6.7-inch 2K LTPO OLED display with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the much-anticipated Tensor G3 chipset is anticipated to power the device, coupled with 12 GB of RAM and storage options of 128 GB or 256 GB.
The in-display fingerprint sensor, leveraging ultrasonic technology, adds an extra layer of security. On the camera front, the spotlight is on a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP main camera equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 64MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens. Selfie enthusiasts can expect an 11MP front-facing camera to cater to their needs.
Anticipated to house a 4,950 mAh battery, the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to support 27W wired charging. Remarkably, the device will debut with Android 14 right out of the gate.
