Facebook to Start Own Gaming Platform

Facebook is the leading social media website and it is going to starts its own gaming platform. Facebook got VR headset company Oculus for $2 billion to add it in the gaming portfolio. Now facebook has launched full PC-dedicated gaming platform and it is going to compete with the likes of Steam and it also provides the competition to the mobile gaming on Android and iOS.

A “Unity” based approach

The new and latest gaming platform of facebook will be made available on web and on desktop and it focuses on developers to use it with the common unity game engine. This is the first project, which is made under latest partnership and it will be the developer centric for most part. It leaves the direct impact on the users of facebook play the games on this social media.

Mark Zuckerberg has reported that the fresh export feature has been added with Unity engine and it can allow the development studio for the publishing of games on facebook and to the new gaming platform after making some little effort and some code changes.

VP of business development of Unity said in a press release that they are using the integrating tools to provide the effortless access to the network of facebook, which is key part of developers and also find the success, which they deserve.

Famous games and VR apps coming soon        

The users can use Unity engine as free and it is getting popular tool, which is used for the number of game titles like Ori & the Blind forest, Superhot, Kerbal Space Program, Firewatch and Alto’s adventure.

These new games are ported to the new gaming platform of facebook after making some small changes and little effort is used for their respective developers. There are huge number of VR apps and they Unity engine gives the power to them and they are added with the gaming platform.

Now you can consider it that Facebook owns Oculus VR and the company needs to sell the apps and games sooner or later and the gaming platform provides the facility. The social network company paid the $2.5 billion for the web game developers during the previous year and there are over 650 million people on the gaming network. Steam has about 125 million monthly users.

Facebook is providing the close alpha test of the new work environment with the applications and join it till 31 August.
