Following the debut of the Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro, Huawei has now unveiled the apex of the family, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+. This latest addition builds upon the foundation of the regular Pro model, taking smartphone technology to new heights.

Design and Display

The Mate 60 Pro+ boasts a 6.82″ LTPO OLED display, akin to its Pro variant sibling, but with a slight enhancement in visuals, offering a resolution of 1,260 x 2,720 pixels. This display stands out as a 10-bit panel with an impressive refresh rate spanning from 1Hz to 120Hz. It also features a rapid 300Hz touch sampling rate. Brightness control utilizes high-frequency PWM dimming at 1,440Hz.

To enhance durability and protection, the device incorporates second-generation Kunlun glass. It holds an IP68 rating, demonstrating resilience in water depths of up to 6 meters (20 feet) for a duration of half an hour.

Internals and Software

While Huawei has yet to unveil the chipset powering the Mate series, speculations point to the utilization of the 7nm Kirin 9000s, manufactured in China. This chipset incorporates 5G support, thanks to Huawei’s proprietary technology.

The Mate 60 Pro+ sees an impressive boost in RAM, now equipped with a generous 16 GB, a notable upgrade from the 12 GB in the Pro model. Storage options range from 512 GB to 1 TB. Huawei continues to support expandable storage through its proprietary NM card format, offering a maximum capacity of 256 GB.

Cameras

Turning to the rear camera setup, the primary module features a 48MP sensor with an OIS-equipped lens that boasts a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. This is complemented by a periscope lens, housing a 48MP sensor and offering 3.5x optical zoom with OIS. Notably, the ultra-wide camera receives a significant upgrade, now sporting a 40MP sensor, a substantial leap from the 12MP sensor found in the other two Mate 60 models.

Similar to its more affordable counterparts, the Mate 60 Pro+ also features three punch holes within its display – one for the 13MP selfie camera and two for the 3D ToF (Time of Flight) system.

Battery and Pricing

The Mate 60 Pro+ maintains a consistent battery configuration, offering a 5,000 mAh capacity that supports rapid charging at 88W via USB-C or at 50W wirelessly, thanks to Huawei’s proprietary technology. Additionally, it features 20W reverse wireless charging, providing convenience for charging other devices. The USB-C port supports USB 3.1 Gen 1 for fast data transfer.

As for pricing, specifics are yet to be disclosed. However, considering the Mate 60 Pro’s starting price of $950, it’s reasonable to expect the Mate 60 Pro+ to come at a slightly higher cost. Huawei’s latest offering promises to deliver an exceptional blend of cutting-edge technology and premium features for smartphone enthusiasts.
