Pakistanis contacted the Samsung Company to bring in investment and one of the official of the company replied to the email saying.

The government should make policy to provide incentives to the companies establishing assembly lines in Pakistan.

The reply from the Samsung brand clearly shows that the Pakistan need to built a policy to support multinational brands. Something akin to the auto policy could help the smart phone companies in setting up new assembly lines.

Till now there are no rules and regulations to prevent infringement and cheap copies in Pakistan. We have seen that the Nokia’s new 3310 was been copied by a local brand even before its launch. And same was the case of Samsung’s galaxy S8.

On the other hand, PTA said to all companies to put “assembled in Pakistan” on all the devices that are going to be assembled in the country.

Guidelines By PTA

PTA has given some relief to the new mobile companies as they will be issued with a NOC for the first six months. After those 6 months the PTA will do thorough examination to make sure that the international standards are being followed. PTA official said,

After the evaluation and verification, the PTA will issue formal NOC following inspection of the assembly lines keeping in view the health, safety and technical standards.
