Now CNICs can be used for receiving payments after an agreement between National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) and Mastercard, world’s largest global payment company. This agreement was signed during annual meeting 2017 of World Economic Forum in Davos.
According to details, the 13 digit CNIC number provided by the Pakistani government can be used by the citizens for receiving foreign payments. Now the use of bank branches or currency exchange to receive foreign or local payments is not required by the Pakistani citizens. Online payments can be used to deposit payments for CNIC or passports due to this agreement with Mastercard Company.
Aurangzeb Khan, country manager Mastercard Pakistan & Afghanistan, told that receiving payments from outside will be simplified through this system. Many Pakistanis receive foreign payments and now they can get a powerful and quick payment system due to this payment feature in CNIC provided by government of Pakistan.
