New 5G Technology
Vivo has made the partnership with China Mobile on ‘China Mobile 5G Device Forerunner initiative’ at GTI summit 2018 at the Mobile World Congress 2018. The industry players will have to combine the efforts including Vivo and the program will increase the development of next generation 5G devices. The aim of the program is to introduce first batch of 5G pre-commercial devices to scale up the trial application showcase with establishment of support for development of 5G devices, chipsets and the component supply chains.

The senior vice president and the Chief Technology Officer of Vivo have attended the summit and the joint discussion on R&D of 5G handsets with the leaders in the industry from partner companies. China Mobile 5G Device Forerunner Initiatives are conducted by China Mobile and it brings more than 20 of the most influential and capable chipset manufacturer of the industry, end solution providers, component manufacturers and forms the strong industry ecosystem for 5G development.

The growth of the smart phone industry is driven by the user experience and it has grown the influence of the smart phone makers on the communication standards and regulations. 5G is an opportunity and the challenge as the technology changes are appeared rapidly and the pace of the market will be enhanced. 5G networks will provide lower latency, higher speeds and more bandwidth. The applications of the key features in the mobile communications are enhanced and 5G devices will take the different forms. Vivo sure that the 5G smart phones will be good as smart control, smart sensors and smart services. Vivo plans to introduce 5G pre-commercial devices by 2019 and it has released the commercial 5G smart phone by 2020.
Long Term Commitment to 5G Development
Viva started the research of 5G after International Telecommunications Union (ITU), which is shared the vision of 5G. Viva has developed the 5G Research Institute in Beijing in 2016 and it became one of the large mobile phone providers at 3GPP group in order to give help to develop the 5G technologies.
Vivo has activated the 5G antenna and frequency related development to accelerate the pace of 5G innovation of Vivo. The partnership of Vivo with China Mobile on 5G was started in 2016 and with the joint solutions to reduce the power consumption of 5G devices. Vivo was the important contributor to China Mobile led GTI 5G Device Whitepaper and China Mobile 5G Technical requirements for large scale field trial.
5G will also bring the unique consumer experience shift and Vivo has been working very close with Qualcomm on 5G demonstration to show the power of 5G applied across the range of end to end usage scenarios.
