At last, we have the successor of 2015’s Mi Pad 2 as the new Mi Pad 3 has been released by Xiaomi recently. Once again they have changed their formula for tablets.

The device was launched without much noise and no announcement was made before the before putting this device on the website. This could be as this product is just an update of a former device.

The device has been released in China and there is no information about its release in other parts of the world. Its cost is $220 (CNY 1499) while it is currently available in Champagne Gold color.

Design and Display

The looks and metal frame of Mi Pad 3 is similar to that of Mi Pad 2. It has a 7.9” display with 326 ppi pixel display and QXGA (20148 x 1536) resolution.

Internals and Storage

But internal specs of the device have changed a lot. As compared to the previous Mi Pad 2 with quad core Intel Atom X5-Z8500 processor and 2 GB of RAM, the latest Mi Pad 3 has Mediatek MT 8176 hexa-core processor with 4 GB of RAM.

There is no option of a SIM card which means you can’t use it as a cellular device while it has 64 GB internal memory with no microSD card slot.

There is just an Android Marshamllow based MIUI 8 as the OS of the device as Windows version of the Mi Pad 3 has not been announced by Xiaomi.

Camera and Battery

Like most of the tablets, Mi Pad 3 also lacks very high class cameras. There is a 13 MP main camera with f/2.2 aperture sensor without LED flash while its video recording capacity is 1080p resolution. The front camera has a 5 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture sensor.

As compared to the Mi Pad 2, there is a slight improvement in the battery of the new device. The Mi Pad 2 has 6190 mAh battery while the Mi Pad 3 has increased it further to a 6600 mAh non removable battery.
