Apple crossed Korean and Chinese companies Samsung and Huawei after receiving record shipments of their iPhones. The company saw a significant increase in shipments in the fourth and last quarter of last year, while Huawei and Samsung saw a sharp decline.
The wall reportedly saw a massive 22% increase in shipments during the quarter. The company has good sales from its latest smartphone, the iPhone 12 series, which features 5G technology.
In addition, the increase in sales was helped by market demand, especially for those who want to upgrade their older Apple iPhone models.
On the other hand, Apple’s iPhone shipments exceeded 90 million units, the highest in any other quarter. It also gave the company a 23.4% share of the global market.
The fourth quarter is generally the strongest for the company due to the launch of new iPhones during the second half of the year. Apple beat Samsung, although the South Korean brand also grew 6.2 percent year on year, reaching 73.9 million units and gaining 19.1 percent market share. So far, US sanctions have severely hampered Huawei’s shipments, which have seen its shipments fall 42.4 percent to 32.3 million units.
