US-based iDroid is one of those companies that try to dominate the low-end smartphone market by providing best performance and quality on lowest possible rates.

In the start of this year, the BALR X7 was introduced by iDroid during an event in Karachi. Its price is Rs. 9,499 and we are providing details of this smartphone here below.

Unboxing

The BALR X & smartphone is available in a black colored box with specifications on the back and phone’s picture on the front.

Beneath the top box, there are two panels where you will get phone’s casing, booklet and protector. There are other usual accessories present here including:

Design & Build Quality

Like Samsung S-series smartphones, the iDroid BALR X7 also has the same placement of back camera, sharp curves and a clear silver ring around the smartphone.

Due to the zinc alloy mid-frame, the iDroid BALR X7 has a regular look and it doesn’t slip from hand despite having a completely plain back.

The BALR X7 has a flat front with 5 MP front camera at the top while the camera also has a flash. The back is made of plastic and is also plane with only a slight bump due to main camera. There is silver plastic outside this hump. Main camera has dual flash.

The iDroid BALR X7 has 5.5” screen but it is quite light in weight due to which it can be managed by one hand.

The volume and power rocker are on the right side of the phone while the left side is completely empty. You can open the bottom from bottom right if you want to insert memory card or SIMs.

The mic is present on the front adjacent to the home key but this position can reduce voice clarity of the phone.

Headphone jack is located on the top of the phone while there are wired connection and dual speakers on the bottom.

Screen and UI

There is a 5.5” screen with 1280 x 720 pixels HD display in the phone. Color of the screen looks quite impressive while its brightness is also quite decent. The screen is readable even in bright sunlight due to high contrast and low reflectivity.

There is a customized version of Android lollipop in the iDroid X7 but we are not sure where it can be upgraded to Android marshmallow or not.

Performance

There is a quad core 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6580 chipset along with 1 GB RAM in the iDroid BALR X7 which makes it easier for everyday use and there is no problem even with running of multiple applications in the background.

Battery Life

A 2,800 mAH battery is there which is enough for such device. It provides a good talk time and standby time as compared to other smartphones with the same battery but higher price.

It has a 7 hours video playback time and 7 hours talk time which is quite impressive for device of this price range.

Camera

The smartphone has 8 MP dual flash main camera and 5 MP single flash front camera. Quality of picture is also quite impressive.

You can take 20 to 40 pictures at a time due to option of ‘continuous shot’.

There is HDR+ mode in both rear and selfie cameras.

Verdict

The build quality of the iDroid BALR X7 is very nice and it becomes more impressive with the addition of metal frame. The phone is quite decent due to good battery, nice screen and software optimization while camera is also fine according to the price range. But the Android version is an old one and there is no information about possibility of its Android version. But overall, the prone has decent specs while considering that it is available at price less than Rs. 10,000. There is no doubt that BALR X7 will give a good competition to other smartphone manufacturing companies providing devices at this price range in Pakistan.
