Xiaomi Mi 5c Powered by Its First In-House Chipset

Xiaomi has launched another mid-range phone in Beijing along with first ever in house chipset, the Surge S1.

Xiaomi launched two of the Pinecone chipsets and the lower end model has been announced in the market and the handset, Surge S1 is built with the use of 28 nm process and the flagship Pinecone V970 chipset is also added with 10 nm fabrication process. The handset, Surge S1 has eight Cortex-A53 cores and four of them are clocked at 2.2 GHz and the rest of them will come in 1.4 GHz for light tasks.

The initial benchmark results show the chipset as one of the best provided from the midrange CPUs. The CPU benchmark scores give the Snapdragon 625, MediaTek Helio P20 and Kirin 650, which run for the money.

The CPU gives the outstanding performance and the beats the popular Snapdragon 625 and the handset, Surge 1 ends the competition due to its graphic performance. It is uses with Mali-T860MP4 doubles the competitors can get.

The performance of GPU is common compromise in midrange chipset market but Xiaomi aimed to get the change with Surge S1. Xiaomi has shown the great performance with the midrange chipset to make it hopeful that the flagship chip of the company will go with the Snapdragon 835, Kirin 970 and Exynos 8895.

Xiaomi Mi 5c

Mi 5c is midrange variant of the flagship Mi 5s of the company and it retains good quality metal build and targets the mid range of market. The weight of the phone is 132 grams and it is only 7.09 mm thin with no camera bump in this handset.

The display on the front side of the handset measures 5.15 inches with 1080p resolution and it is quite bright at 550 units with 2048 brightness with the adjustment levels and it covers 94.4% of NYSC color gamut.

The users will get the new Surge S1 processor with 3 GB LPDDR3 of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC 5.0 storage and it can be expandable through the use of microSD card.

The back of the handset is added with 12 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, OIS and LED flash. This handset uses the larger pixels, which look like the flagship smartphone of last year. The front 8 MP camera is added withf/2.0. This handset has the software of Android 7.1 Nougat with Xiaomi owns MIUI skin. The mobile phone is provided in the Gold, black and Rose gold variants.

The smart phone is provided in slim 7.09 mm design with 2860 mAh battery and it also supports the fast charging. The handset, Xiaomi Mi 5c will be provided in early March for $220 and it will be at the toughest competition from the own phones of Xiaomi like Redmi Note 4 and Redmi Pro.
