Dozens of researches and proclamations had been published since the Linux-based OS Android was released publically in 2008; to profess that Android is not a secure platform for smart phones.

Google now claimed that Android is more secure than any other platform including iOS, despite the fact that Play Store has over 1 million malware apps.

An engaging report, called “Android – realistic security from the ground up” was laid out by Google’s Android Security chief Adrian Ludwig, researcher Eric Davis and Jon Larimer at Berlin’s virus Bulletin conference.

According to Ludwig, of installed apps the number of malware that actively strive to dodge runtime security checks is just 0.001%, while really provoke harm apps are even less than that.

From outside the Play Store where the probability of malware and worms is much eminent, Google evidently gathered data.

Google secured credible evidence; based on the data collected from 1.5 billion app installed from outside that about 0.12% is the proportion of “potentially harmful apps” installed.
But no data had been collected from the Smart Phones and Tablets, not been authorized to run Google Play services, especially those manufactured in China. These Google statistics are determined from Android devices that have Google Play Store installed, featuring ‘Verify Apps’.
