According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the country’s mobile phone imports increased by 51.59% during the first eight months of the current financial year (2020-21) compared to the same period last year. .

During July-February (2020-21), Pakistan imported mobile phones worth 1. 1.311 billion, compared to 65 865.180 million during July-February (2019-20), an increase of 51.59 percent.

On a year-on-year basis, mobile phone imports also increased by 68.11% during the month of February 2021 as compared to the same month last year. In February 2021, the country’s mobile phone imports were recorded at 5 175.823 million as against 10 4,104.590 million in February 2020.

Comparatively, on a month-on-month basis, mobile phone imports, however, declined by 10.68% during February 2021, while imports during January 2021 decreased by ، 619.6855 million due to a decrease in the number of working days.
