After a lot of news and rumors from the years, the LG is finally quieting its smartphones business. The tech giant confirmed it in an official announcement. The company’s board of Directors officially approved the decision to end the LG’s mobile division globally.
According to official statement of the company:
“LG decides to focus resources in growth areas such as electric vehicle components, connected devices, smart homes, robotics, artificial intelligence, and business-to-business solutions, as well as platforms and services”
The LG phones launched in market till now will be available for sale and the company will also continue the software updates for these phones for a period of time depending on the region.
Remember that, the LG’s smartphone business has been facing loss for more than 6 consecutive years that compelled the company to end its smartphone business.

LG only shipped 23 million phones in 2020 compared to Samsung’s 256 million.
