ZTE has consistently set itself apart by incorporating 35mm lenses into the primary camera setups of certain flagship models, such as the well-received Nubia Z50S Pro and the preceding Axon 40 Ultra, acclaimed for its innovative under-screen selfie camera implementation.

The company seems poised to take a bold step forward by introducing a groundbreaking 35mm camera enhanced with a 1-inch type sensor, a move that inevitably leads to a substantial camera protrusion, particularly evident in the prototype stage.

A snapshot shared by the reputable leaker, Digital Chat Station, offers a glimpse of the prototype for an upcoming Nubia flagship, positioned side by side with the existing Nubia Z50S Pro.

This image effectively underscores the noteworthy increase in dimensions required to accommodate both the expanded lens and the resulting camera module, all in pursuit of accommodating the larger 1-inch sensor, as a departure from the current 1/1.49-inch sensor featured in the Z50S Pro.

According to the Chinese tipster, the showcased phone is equipped with the Sony IMX989 sensor, with indications that Nubia is planning to launch this device once it optimizes its production capabilities.

Beyond the prominent camera housing, both phones exhibit an almost identical exterior, encompassing even the layout of buttons. This intriguingly could serve as a sneak peek into the anticipated Nubia Z50S Ultra.

However, details remain unconfirmed regarding the official name of this upcoming phone and its anticipated release date to the public. Following Nubia’s established pattern, the launch will likely initiate in China before gradually expanding to international markets in the subsequent months.
