Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has done the survey of Quality of Service and Zong has won the clearer winner in data speeds. This survey has raised the concerns over the Cellular Mobile Operators and it is also said that the call connection time of all the mobile operators are not satisfactory.
The mobile operators have 3G speed, which is averaging 2 mbps for Telenor and Ufone and the average 3G speed of Mobilink stood at 5.04 mbps and Zong is on the top with the 7.71 mbps of average speed of 3G on its network.
The average speed of 3G network of Telenor is decreased from 2.2 mbps, when PTA conducted its survey to 1.94 mbps. The mobile phone operators of Mobilink, Ufone and Zong are able to increase their average speed of their 3G network since their last survey, which was conducted last year.
PTA has done this complete survey of Quality of Service of 2G and 3G networks in Islamabad, Peshawar and Rawalpindi to check the voice and data QoS according to their required standards. The officials of PTA also confirmed that the QoS survey is also being carried out in other cities of the country but PTA did not do the survey of 4G network.
The recent QoS survey shows that the operators 3G operates with the 10 MHz frequency spectrum, which is higher than the internet data speed, which is provided by 3G operator with the frequency spectrum of 5 MHz.
3G Speeds
PTA has carried out its survey and they found that the 3G operators data transfer speed is higher than the benchmark, which was set in their respective licenses. It is also said that the Data throughput of Zong is highest, then the next operator is Mobilink and the data throughput of Ufone is the lowest of these three NGMS operators.
Signal Strength
The QoS Survey of PTA showed that the signal strength of 3G and 4G operators are above the benchmark and they showed that the good coverage of the signals are shown in majority of covered areas. If the value of signal strength is lower at the negative axis, then the signal strength will be higher. PTA has also clarified that the over signal strength of Telenor and Ufone networks are better than the signal strength of Mobilink and Zong. But Zong and Mobilink use more frequency spectrum for their 3G and 4G networks, so their signal strength quality is superior.
Network Accessibility – 2G Networks
When the network indicators are appeared on the mobile phone through the complete duration of the usage, then it shows that the mobile services are available for the end customers and it has the greater network accessibility for the mobile services. PTA is satisfied with the network accessibility of all mobile phone operators.
Grade of 2G Services
If the end customers cannot get the access to the mobile services, when it is requested then the grade of service is profitability. The mobile phone can have the network indicator displayed on the handset and the grade of services is the network blocking. In this way, the mobile operators meet the specific grade of service and it is also mentioned in their license terms.
Call Connection Time
When the complete call initiation information is sent by the caller and in return they received call set up notification, it is considered the call connection time. It is also simply said that it is the time between the dialing of the number and hear the ring back tone. The findings of PTA show that call connection time of these mobile operators is not satisfactory and they need to do better while connecting the voice calls.
Call Completion Ratio
When you get a service and continue it to complete it under the giving conditions for certain time period, then call completion ratio is measured as their probability. The call can be continued under given conditions and they can also be terminated by either caller or receiver deliberately. Simply the KPI provides necessary information regarding Call Drops. Call Completion Ratio for the mobile operators like Ufone and Mobilink is below required standard and remaining three mobile operators are meeting the required standard.
End to End Speech Quality
It is also noted that the end to end speech quality of the mobile operators is above the required standard.
SMS Success Rate
PTA carried out the SMS success rate and this is the probability to show the delivery of short message to the recipient successfully and the end to end SMS delivery is carried out when the requested and display of the relevant information is done on the mobile phone. It shows the information about the successful provision of SMS to the receiver.
PTA said Mobilink and Warid Telecom are the below standard in their SMS Success rate while other mobile operators are meeting the required standard of SMS success rate.
End to End SMS Delivery Time
PTA also carried out the end-to-end SMS delivery time, which is included with the time to send the short message to the short message center, then this short message is sent to the receiver on his mobile phone. It shows the average time taken for the delivery of short message from the sender to the receiver. Here, PTA is satisfied with all mobile operators as they are meeting the standard for end to end SMS delivery time.
