Tecno, known for pushing the boundaries of smartphone innovation, has unveiled its most recent creation from the depths of its research and development labs: the Phantom Ultimate concept phone, featuring a remarkable sliding screen. This cutting-edge device ingeniously expands its display sideways, seamlessly transitioning from 6.55 inches to a generous 7.11 inches in a mere 1.2 to 1.3 seconds.

This remarkable Tecno Phantom Ultimate closely resembles Tecno’s earlier Vision V model, albeit without the folding mechanism. To witness this marvel in action, be sure to check out the video below.

The Phantom Ultimate is equipped with a singular motor system that simplifies the use of its screen-sliding feature. With a straightforward press of a button, conveniently located on the upper right side of the phone, the device elegantly extends its screen.

What’s truly captivating is that when the screen is retracted, the additional display curves around the back, transforming into an “Always On” display that conveniently showcases notifications, time, date, and more.

In terms of specifications, the device boasts a 7.11-inch On-cell LTPO AMOLED panel, offering a resolution of 2,296 x 1,596 pixels and an impressive pixel density of 388 PPI. It proudly encompasses the entire DCI-P3 color gamut, although verifying such statistics can be a challenge with a concept device.

Despite its technological prowess, the Phantom Ultimate maintains a svelte thickness of just 9.93 mm at its base. Tecno assures users that it is comfortably operable with one hand. The sliding mechanism incorporates protective glass, while the textured back enhances grip and usability.

Regrettably, as it stands, the Phantom Ultimate remains a concept phone, and there are no plans for commercial release. The journey towards making rollable screen phones as practical as their conventional counterparts still involves overcoming certain technological hurdles, and there is currently no indication of when that might happen. Nonetheless, Tecno continues to push the boundaries of smartphone innovation, leaving us eager to see what the future holds.
